Cheap and Chic
I’ve never been the kind of person to spend a lot of money on clothes. Growing up, I mostly wore hand-me-downs, so getting new clothes at all still feels like a bit of luxury. I tend to shop at inexpensive stores like H&M or Forever 21 for fun, trendy pieces that I won’t wear for more than a season or two. For basics, I shop at Banana Republic and the GAP. The items may be more expensive, but they are also more durable and classic. In San Francisco, I also like stopping in Buffalo Exchange just to browse. Because they sell gently used clothing, it isn’t a great place to shop if you have something specific in mind, but by perusing the racks with an open mind, I often find something unexpected and fun.
